Ask for an interior room on the 3rd floor if you're noise-sensitive — the hotel even provides earplugs

Why It Matters

Michelin One Key designation. The last of three historic hotels ever built downtown Fort Collins, and the only one still operating. Ace Gillett's underground lounge has a cocktail program curated by Proprietors LLC — the team behind NYC and Denver's Death + Co.

The Armstrong Hotel opened in 1923 as the tallest building in Fort Collins and is now the only surviving independent historic hotel in Old Town. The 2019 renovation brought all 54 rooms up to boutique standards — brass beds, navy accent walls, macramé art — while keeping the original brick bones intact. Downstairs, Ace Gillett's is a genuine underground lounge with live music most nights and a cocktail program that doesn't mess around.
