The Armstrong Hotel
Historic downtown boutique with a speakeasy soul. Part Americana, part Rocky Mountain, entirely Fort Collins.
Ask for an interior room on the 3rd floor if you're noise-sensitive — the hotel even provides earplugs
Why It Matters
Michelin One Key designation. The last of three historic hotels ever built downtown Fort Collins, and the only one still operating. Ace Gillett's underground lounge has a cocktail program curated by Proprietors LLC — the team behind NYC and Denver's Death + Co.
The Armstrong Hotel opened in 1923 as the tallest building in Fort Collins and is now the only surviving independent historic hotel in Old Town. The 2019 renovation brought all 54 rooms up to boutique standards — brass beds, navy accent walls, macramé art — while keeping the original brick bones intact. Downstairs, Ace Gillett's is a genuine underground lounge with live music most nights and a cocktail program that doesn't mess around.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The front desk loans out red cruiser bikes to guests at no charge. Staff can set you up with a map or itinerary for Fort Collins' 100+ miles of trails. Good way to reach Old Town Square, Poudre Trail, and Horsetooth Reservoir.
Regularly scheduled live music in the underground lounge — spanning jazz, swing, piano, and more. Vinyl also spins throughout the evening. Check the hotel's local events calendar for specific performers.
Staff can build out custom itineraries for Fort Collins exploration — breweries, hiking, Old Town shopping, trail maps. The hotel also maintains an online blog and neighborhood guide.
3,000 square feet of versatile meeting and event space across the property, including Ace Gillett's Lounge (capacity up to 150 for the full hotel per Colorado.com). Catering menus designed by the Executive Chef using local Colorado ingredients. Suitable for corporate events, birthdays, anniversaries, and weddings.
