Why It Matters
No road access — cable car only. Claims the world's highest kelo sauna. The gourmet restaurant is reserved exclusively for lodge guests. Surrounded entirely by Stelvio National Park, with ski-in/ski-out access directly from the slopes.
Sunny Valley sits at 2,700 metres in the Valle dell'Alpe, built from local stone and Lapland kelo fir — a silvery-grey ancient wood sourced from Finnish forests. There are just 10 suites, all different, and you can only get here by an 8-seater cable car from Santa Caterina Valfurva. Once you crest the Sobretta ridge, the Stelvio National Park — Europe's largest — opens up in every direction. Three dining venues, a Snow Wellness spa with an outdoor kelo sauna, and an igloo bar for après-ski round out a property that's very hard to replicate.

Alpina Junior Suite
The entry-level suite at Sunny Valley, though 'entry-level' is relative at 26–34 sqm of kelo wood walls and mountain views. Cozy and enveloping, with a spacious double bedroom and a shower bathroom. Natural light does most of the decorating. Artisanal furnishings, no fuss — just clean alpine comfort with everything you need.

A step up in space at 34–36 sqm, the Kelo Suites are fully clad in authentic kelo wood and include a double bedroom plus a bathtub — either freestanding in the open room or inside the bathroom depending on the unit. A chaise longue and integrated relaxation area make this feel less like a hotel room and more like a proper mountain retreat.

Signature Suite
At 50 sqm, the Signature Suites are generous by any mountain lodge standard. Double bedroom, both a bathtub and shower in the bathroom, and a separate sitting area with chaise longue and small table. The layout gives you somewhere to properly decompress after a day on the slopes — not just a bedroom with a nice view.

The lodge's crown. At 160 sqm, it's a two-bedroom private residence at the highest point of the building. The master bedroom has a large picture window facing the peaks, armchairs, a table, and a freestanding bathtub placed directly in the room. The second bedroom works well for families or small groups. Private entrance, two bathrooms, and a panoramic living room where the view is the furniture.

Numerous summer hiking trails depart from the lodge into the Stelvio National Park, including routes that follow the traces of the Great War through the mountains.
The lodge is a start and end point for mountain biking trails through Stelvio National Park. Bikes can be brought up on the cable car.
A snow-built igloo bar metres from the lodge entrance, open during the winter season. Cocktails and wine served on an ice bar. Works best paired with the spa next door.
Step out of your room directly onto Santa Caterina ski area slopes. The lodge sits inside the Santa Caterina / Vallalpe ski circuit — technical red runs, including the famous Deborah Compagnoni piste. Intermediate and expert terrain.
Seasonal evening event organised by the lodge team — night skiing on the slopes followed by return to the lodge. A themed après experience that doesn't happen every night; check with the lodge for the season schedule.
The snow-covered valley surrounding the lodge is ideal snowshoe terrain. Head out from the lodge door into Stelvio National Park without ever needing transport.
At 2,700m above the valley haze, the light on the Ortles-Cevedale peaks at dawn and dusk is genuinely different. The lodge's panoramic windows and terrace make this a passive but memorable activity any season.
