Sublime Samana
Minimalist-modern Caribbean. Clean white interiors, floor-to-ceiling windows, occasional pops of turquoise. Intimate but full-service. Feels more like a private residence compound than a traditional hotel.
Upgrade to a second-level casita to get the rooftop terrace and jacuzzi combo — worth every extra dollar
Why It Matters
One of the few genuinely luxury boutique options on the largely undeveloped Samaná Peninsula. Architect-designed casitas with private jacuzzis and rooftop terraces, a Michelin Guide-selected property, SLH member, and home to the Coconut Whispers Spa — a standout spa built around all-natural local ingredients like stones from the Samaná River and fresh coconut. Add whale watching access from January through March and you have a resort that earns its category.
Sublime Samana is a 26-room boutique resort on a private strip of Playa Coson, designed by Dominican architect Antonio Segundo Imbert in a minimalist-modern style. All accommodations are suites or standalone casitas — no standard hotel rooms here — each with a fully equipped kitchen, separate living area, and private terrace or balcony. It's genuinely isolated from Las Terrenas (15–20 minutes by taxi), which is the whole point: you come here to decompress, not to explore town.
