Stradom House
Design-led luxury in a medieval convent shell. Art deco meets Polish modernism. Intimate but grand, historic without being stuffy.
Ask for a courtyard-facing room if tram noise is a concern — they're quieter and some have private patios.
Why It Matters
A Michelin Key award-holder and Green Key certified, Stradom House is widely regarded as the finest hotel in Krakow. The converted Baroque chapel bar (Hedwig's, complete with a 500-kilogram chandelier) and the Alexandra Soveral spa collaboration are genuinely one-of-a-kind in Poland. The Chapel Loft — at 155 sqm with its own piano, vinyl record player, and a bathtub with a window overlooking Wawel Castle's rooftops — is the most exclusive hotel suite in the city.
Stradom House sits in a 14th-century building on the strip between Wawel Royal Castle and the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter — a building with roots going back to a church and monastery, with a desacralized Baroque chapel now serving as one of the city's best bars. It was designed by key figures behind Soho House and it shows: the feel is art-deco-meets-Polish-modernism, with curved stone ceilings, muted tones, and over 70 contemporary artworks by names like Wilhelm Sasnal and Jonas Wood. At 125 rooms, it's larger than it feels, but the intimacy is real. Rooms carry baby blue and coral palettes with vintage Roberts radios on bedside tables, while the spa — named SÓL (salt in Polish) — runs on Alexandra Soveral of London's exclusive treatments, available nowhere else in Poland.
