Why It Matters
Three consecutive Michelin Keys (2023–2025) at a 20-room independent ranch is rare. Its origin as a 1952 MGM actor's hideout — where legend has it Elizabeth Montgomery got married — gives it real history. The no-TV, no-phone policy is a genuine commitment, not a gimmick. And The Barn Kitchen is legitimately worth a reservation even if you're not staying.
A 20-room adults-only (21+) desert ranch in South Palm Springs with genuine bones. Built in 1952 as Castle's Red Barn by MGM actor Don Castle and his wife Zetta — one of the original Hollywood elite getaways — it was fully restored in 2013 with the original buildings still standing. The formula is deliberately simple: no TVs, no phones, horse-trough bathtubs, exposed beam ceilings, concrete floors with pebble inlays, and a fire pit where strangers become friends over s'mores. It holds a Michelin Key (awarded 2023, 2024, and 2025), and its on-site Barn Kitchen is independently recommended by the Michelin Guide as one of their favorite Palm Springs restaurants.

At about 400 sq ft, these are the most secluded option on the property — tucked into the garden section away from pool traffic. King bed, private patio, rain shower, and most have a steel horse-trough bathtub. An ADA-accessible Garden Room is available via the booking page.

Owner's Suite
The flagship at around 800 sq ft with high ceilings and an open loft-like feel. Separate living area with a gas fireplace — the only room with one. The bathroom has both a large steel horse-trough tub and an open rain shower. Continental breakfast, free bikes, and WiFi all included.

Poolside Rooms
The smallest category at around 300 sq ft, but the trade-off is direct pool access from your private patio. Queen bed, open shower with rain head, SMEG fridge, and unique artwork. Some units include a steel horse-trough bathtub. No TV, no phone — intentionally.

The most secluded room on the property at approximately 500 sq ft. Has a proper kitchen setup — full-size SMEG fridge, microwave, coffee brewer, and kitchen sink — plus a dining/living area separate from the bedroom. Good option for longer stays. Still no TV or phone.
