Sparrows Lodge
Rustic-chic adult camp. Earth tones, redwood built-ins, tin roofs, patio campfires, and a curated art collection including works by Ruscha, Kelly, Katz, and Baldessari. Think mid-century ranch meets analog retreat — deliberately low-tech, high-comfort.
Book dinner at the Barn Kitchen as soon as you reserve your room — outside guests also take tables and it fills fast.
Why It Matters
Three consecutive Michelin Keys (2023–2025) at a 20-room independent ranch is rare. Its origin as a 1952 MGM actor's hideout — where legend has it Elizabeth Montgomery got married — gives it real history. The no-TV, no-phone policy is a genuine commitment, not a gimmick. And The Barn Kitchen is legitimately worth a reservation even if you're not staying.
A 20-room adults-only (21+) desert ranch in South Palm Springs with genuine bones. Built in 1952 as Castle's Red Barn by MGM actor Don Castle and his wife Zetta — one of the original Hollywood elite getaways — it was fully restored in 2013 with the original buildings still standing. The formula is deliberately simple: no TVs, no phones, horse-trough bathtubs, exposed beam ceilings, concrete floors with pebble inlays, and a fire pit where strangers become friends over s'mores. It holds a Michelin Key (awarded 2023, 2024, and 2025), and its on-site Barn Kitchen is independently recommended by the Michelin Guide as one of their favorite Palm Springs restaurants.

The Barn Kitchen grounds offer nightly stargazing around the fire pit — mentioned on the official dining page.
Classic pit horseshoes on the property grounds. A signature part of the analog, camp-like vibe.
Outdoor pool with a poolside hot tub, umbrellas, misters to handle desert heat, and plush lounge chairs. The main daytime gathering spot on the property.
Patio fireplaces available on select rooms for private campfire reading and relaxing.
On-site tennis court — guests are encouraged to use wooden rackets, leaning into the retro camp aesthetic.
