SoprArno Suites is a 13-room boutique B&B sitting inside a 16th-century Florentine palazzo on Via Maggio, right in the Oltrarno neighbourhood. Architect Francesco Maestrelli, lawyer-turned-furniture-collector Matteo Perduca, and designer-calligrapher Betty Soldi built this place together — and the result feels like staying at the home of three extremely stylish friends. Every room is different: frescoed ceilings, free-standing roll-top baths, salvaged antique furniture, bespoke artwork, and themed corners that Wallpaper* dubbed a 'stylish gentleman's room' or 'typography inspiration'. No pool, no spa, no restaurant. But breakfast is included, the honesty bar is on the first floor, and the SottArno deli downstairs opens to the public after morning service.

Larger than the Superior category, with grand spaces furnished in Italian design classics, eclectic artworks, and unexpected contemporary touches. Some rooms have lofty frescoed ceilings, oak floors, and free-standing bathtubs. Mr & Mrs Smith particularly loved the blue Deluxe room with its Persian-inspired rugs and elaborate overhead fresco.

The top of the house. Adds a separate living area, desk space, and — the key selling point — a private exterior balcony overlooking Florentine rooftops. Eclectic antique Italian design pieces, bespoke art, free-standing bathtub plus shower. The balcony alone makes this worth the upgrade.

Superior Room
Eclectic alcoves, each furnished in a distinct style — from the 'Paper Room' (a collaboration with Edition Poshette and ACM Design) to a playfully quirky 'Games' room. Super king 2x2m bed. Some have frescoed ceilings, wooden or terracotta floors, and a free-standing roll-top bathtub plus shower. The entry-level category, but still thoughtfully individual.
