Sophy Hyde Park opened in 2018 as Hyde Park's first boutique hotel, and it set a high bar for Chicago's South Side. The 98-room property is built around the intellectual and artistic energy of the University of Chicago neighborhood — over 600 original works by local artists cover the walls, every room has a record player with handpicked vinyl, and the lobby's 15-foot double-sided fireplace anchors a lounge that genuinely pulls in locals alongside hotel guests. It's not downtown, and that's entirely the point.
