Built from the bones of a 1960s chain motel on Wilshire Boulevard, SIXTY Beverly Hills has been completely reimagined into a dark, mood-drenched boutique with a serious personality. Think chocolate leather, burled wood front desk, 70s glamour, and Steven Klein fashion photography hanging on every wall. The rooftop pool — tiled with actual Swarovski crystals — is the undisputed star of the show, with 360-degree views stretching from downtown LA to the Hollywood Hills. Five blocks from Rodeo Drive, but a world away from the beige luxury of the big chains.

The entry point at SIXTY. These rooms are compact but pull off the dark-glam look well — ebonised hardwood floors, queen platform bed with custom Sferra linens, and marble-clad bathroom with an oversize shower. French balconies available on request. Not a room to spread out in, but everything you touch is quality.
