Sixties
Retro-intellectual boutique. Heavy on 1960s Barcelona iconography — murals, photographs, pop-art door panels. Functional minimalism with neutral tones inside the rooms. Museum-feel in the common areas. Not luxurious, but genuinely characterful.
Always request an exterior room — interior rooms face other buildings and can feel hostel-like. Exterior rooms get real daylight.
Why It Matters
Formerly known as Chic & Basic Ramblas, the hotel was relaunched as Sixties with a fully themed concept dedicated to 1960s Barcelona culture. It's the only hotel in the city to dedicate an entire floor to the Gauche Divine — the generation of artists and creatives who used culture to oppose Francoism. Selected for the MICHELIN Guide hotel collection via Tablet Hotels.
Part hotel, part time-machine, Sixties is an 85-room boutique property tucked into Passatge de Gutenberg — a narrow alley two minutes from La Rambla — that treats 1960s Barcelona as its entire design vocabulary. A genuine vintage Seat 600 sits in the lobby. Every floor tells a different story: the 'Gauche Divine' intellectuals who defied Franco on the first floor, pop-art consumerism on the second, fashion icons on the third, and by the fifth and sixth floors you're into hippies, paella, and flamenco. Selected by Tablet Hotels and the MICHELIN Guide, this is a 3-star property that punches above its star rating on character.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Bike rental available directly from the hotel. A practical option for getting around Barcelona's flat coastal areas and along the seafront.
A stylish white billiards table in the shared lounge area. One of the hotel's signature common-area features — free for guests.
A 2-hour guided tour of the Ciutat Vella (Old Town) neighbourhood, available on specified days for a fee. Organised through the hotel.
The hotel itself functions as a walking exhibition. Each floor is curated around a specific 1960s Barcelona theme — from the Gauche Divine intellectuals on the first floor to pop-art consumerism on the second and fashion icons on the third. The photo archive (featuring works by photographers X. Miserachs and O. Maspons) is accessible to guests throughout the building.
