Albert Hotel, part of Sircle Collection
Modern aristocratic — dark, moody, design-forward with a fictional patron (the eponymous Sir Albert) whose taste for sultry interiors and Japanese gastronomy defines the whole place. Equal parts private members' club and neighbourhood hangout.

Why It Matters
The first hotel in the Sir Hotels collection (opened 2013), built inside a 19th-century diamond factory whose walls were fortified to prevent vibrations from disrupting gem-cutting. That same solidity now means an unusually quiet hotel in the middle of a lively city district. It's also the home of IZAKAYA, one of Amsterdam's most acclaimed Japanese restaurants, which draws a strong local crowd alongside hotel guests.
Sir Albert is a 90-room boutique hotel in Amsterdam's De Pijp district, housed in a fortified 19th-century diamond-cutting factory. The building's industrial bones — high ceilings, oversized windows, solid walls that don't rattle when trams pass — have been dressed up with contemporary Dutch furniture, art, and design by award-winning firm BK Architecture. Instead of a traditional reception desk, guests walk into The Study: a warm, book-lined parlor with leather chairs, a gas fireplace, and the distinct feeling that you've wandered into a wealthy eccentric's private home rather than a hotel lobby.
