Sweni
Ultra-contemporary riverine safari lodge. Bold, jewel-box interiors inspired by beetles, chameleons, and birds' wings — teal, tan, pink, and emerald — offset by a wild, unfenced bush setting. More like a design hotel that happens to be surrounded by lions than a traditional thatched camp.

Why It Matters
Part of The World's 50 Best Hotels for three consecutive years. Won the Flor de Caña Eco Hotel Award in 2023 and the inaugural Johnnie Walker Art of Design Award in 2025. One of only two lodges on Singita's exclusive 33,000-acre Kruger concession, where no public access is permitted. With just seven suites, it's among the smallest — and most exclusive — luxury properties in the entire Kruger.
Seven suites built into the riverine forest above the Sweni River. That's it. No crowds, no sprawling complex — just glass-walled rooms on wooden stilts, hippos grunting in the water below, and 33,000 acres of private Kruger wilderness beyond your deck. Singita Sweni is the smaller, more intimate sibling of nearby Lebombo, and its size is its superpower. Rates are fully all-inclusive — meals, premium drinks, twice-daily game drives, walking safaris, and laundry — though spa treatments and boutique shopping are extra.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Archery range available at Lebombo Village for guests wanting to test their aim with a bow.
The Sweni River corridor and four distinct ecological zones on the concession make it exceptional for birding. Resident hippos, crocodiles, and a kaleidoscope of river birds frequent the area directly below the suites.
A well-equipped gym shared between Sweni and Lebombo Lodges, with panoramic bush views. You can watch the wildlife action outside while working out.
Guided yoga available at both Sweni and Lebombo Lodges. Yoga mats and instructional cards provided in each suite for self-guided practice.
On-foot explorations of the 33,000-acre concession, led by experienced field guides and trackers. Minimum age 16 years. Complimentary and included in the lodge rate.
Dawn and afternoon game drives in open Land Rover vehicles, led by Singita's expert field guides and trackers. Maximum 6 guests per vehicle to ensure unobstructed sightings. The afternoon drive extends into a night drive with spotlight for nocturnal wildlife. Sundowners and snacks served in the bush on the evening drive; tea, coffee, and light snacks on the morning drive. No more than two other vehicles allowed at any sighting — a Singita self-imposed rule. Big Five, plus cheetah, hippo, large lion prides, rare antelope, and prolific birdlife on the concession.
A customised programme for young guests covering animal tracking, astronomy, bush survival techniques, game spotting competitions, bird identification, and nature quizzes. Arts and crafts, board games, movies, and cooking interactions also available.
Guided mountain bike rides through less-travelled areas of the concession, led by experienced rangers.
Located at Lebombo Village, the boutique stocks African artefacts, jewellery, contemporary African art, décor pieces, and curated gifts. TV available at this location. Purchases are excluded from the all-inclusive rate.
Interactive cooking classes at the Singita Community Culinary School where guests can learn local cuisine, join preparation of lunchtime tapas, and connect with the community food program. Located in Lebombo Village, a short drive from Sweni.
The remote location and absence of light pollution make the night sky extraordinary. Guests can stargaze from their suite deck day bed or join guided stargazing sessions.
Singita's acclaimed wine program — premium South African and international labels — is part of the all-inclusive rate. Private wine cellar dinners available on request.
Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
WiFi is provided throughout the lodge but should be treated as a bonus, not a given. The extremely remote location means connectivity can be slow and intermittent.
Unlike most camps in the park, Singita lodges have no perimeter fencing — animals move freely around and through the property.
Babysitting and childminding services available. All activities tailored to family interests. Children of all ages welcome; infants under 2 free, ages 2-16 at 50% of adult rate when sharing.
A gleaming marble bar in the main lodge serves as the sundowner hub, with Singita's extensive artisanal South African gin collection and premium wine programme. Firepit nearby for evening gatherings.
Full laundry service included in the all-inclusive rate.
220V electricity with converters available; hairdryers supplied in each suite.
An idyllically positioned pool in the main lodge area, overlooking the Sweni River and shaded by trees — a prime spot for watching wildlife activity below during the heat of the day.
Extensive on-site solar installation ensures the lodge operates independently during South Africa's power outages. Part of Singita's 'touch the earth lightly' sustainability commitment.
