Silky Oaks Lodge
Contemporary eco-luxury with serious First Nations cultural integrity. The design nods to classic Queensland vernacular but with a cool, edited aesthetic — no kitsch, no clutter. It's the kind of place where you arrive stressed and genuinely forget your phone exists by day two.

Why It Matters
Two Michelin Keys (2024). Ranked Australia's No.2 resort by Gourmet Traveller. Named in the Condé Nast 2024 Gold List and Condé Nast Traveler UK Readers' Choice Awards. Originally opened in 1985, now operating under the Beckons collection alongside Longitude 131°, Southern Ocean Lodge and Capella Lodge. The lodge sits within the world's oldest living rainforest — estimated at 180 million years — on Kuku Yalanji Country.
Silky Oaks Lodge sits on 32 hectares of World Heritage-listed rainforest above the Mossman River — about 20 minutes from Port Douglas and 80 minutes from Cairns. Forty treehouse-style suites built from local hardwoods open onto expansive verandahs, each with a hammock and views into the canopy or over the river. The architecture leans into the landscape: cantilevered ceilings, unwalled communal spaces, polished timber floors, and everything designed to pull the outside in.
