Shinta Mani Wild
Eccentric jungle-safari glamping meets serious conservation. Think vintage travel trunks, carved teak, hand-picked antiques, jackie-O silk blouses at dinner, and camouflage-clad Adventure Butlers. The vibe is theatrical and playful — but the commitment to protecting the Cardamom forest is absolutely real.
The minimum stay is 3 nights — the camp strongly recommends longer. There is more than enough to fill 4-5 days.
Why It Matters
Named a National Geographic Unique Lodge of the World. Guests arrive by 400-meter zipline over the jungle canopy and a waterfall. All-inclusive means literally everything: unlimited spa treatments, all food and premium drinks, all guided activities including anti-poaching motorbike patrols with armed Wildlife Alliance rangers. No two of the 15 tents are alike — each has its own themed character and specific riverside location planned over seven years. Cambodia's first private wildlife and nature reserve.
Shinta Mani Wild is a 15-tent all-inclusive tented camp strung along a mile of the Tmor Rung River in Cambodia's Cardamom Mountains, with tents perched on stilts above rushing rapids and waterfalls. Designed by Bill Bensley over a seven-year planning period, every detail from tent placement to hand-picked antiques was deliberate. The camp operates on a 350-hectare private nature sanctuary at the confluence of Kirirom, Cardamom, and Bokor National Parks, and every stay is paired with an active conservation partnership with Wildlife Alliance.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Join armed Wildlife Alliance rangers on motorbikes for 2–6 hours patrolling the camp's 350 hectares. Guests may help dismantle snares, locate camera traps, or even assist in rescuing a trapped animal. One of the most visceral conservation experiences available at any luxury property in Southeast Asia.
Hundreds of resident and migratory species inhabit the preserve. Guided birdwatching with Butlers — six kingfisher species, 10 types of drongos, eagles, hornbills, pileated gibbons (heard rather than seen). Kayaking is a particularly good vantage point.
The property hosts over 140 butterfly species. Head Bensley Butler and resident lepidopterist Bong Mac leads guided hikes to spot painted Jezebels, magpie crows, and blue-banded king crows. A butterfly hatchery on site, developed with Conservation International, breeds indigenous species for reintroduction.
Join the resident naturalist to check the camp's network of wildlife camera traps and gibbon monitoring stations. Past captures include pileated gibbons, dholes, pangolins, leopard cats, and new orchid species.
Custom-designed expedition pontoon with a full bar, daybeds, toilet, and sun-lounger top deck explores the mangrove-lined backwaters, rice fields, and golden sand beaches of the upper Srey Ambel Estuary. Butlers know the best bird-watching channels and picnic spots. Seasonal — most suited to dry season when estuary beaches emerge.
Guided foraging trip into the Cardamom Rainforest with reformed ex-loggers and ex-poachers who know the forest intimately. Guests may dig up wild potatoes, pick exotic fruit, discover edible mushrooms, and even taste live red ants. Everything goes back to the chef at HQ.
Begins with a zipline over the river into the forest. Guests forage ingredients en route to the organic farm's open-air cooking sala, prepare three dishes from the seasonal menu using traditional Khmer techniques, then eat the results.
Learn the secrets of cocktail-making from the camp's master mixologist — local spirits and juices, ice cube science, house botanical bitters. Held at the Landing Zone Bar.
Butler-guided hikes ranging from easy riverside trails to full-day hard slogs deep into the Cardamom interior across the 865-acre property. Deep forest hikes may reveal rare orchids, tarantulas, and birds in completely unvisited terrain.
Flatwater kayaking downstream through the river system, with bee-eaters, black-crested bulbuls, and six species of kingfisher along the banks. Seasonal — unavailable when monsoon rains raise the river too high to navigate safely.
Fleet of yellow mountain bikes for all skill levels. Options range from a gentle ride through a Khmer village to a challenging climb to Kirirom Reservoir and exhilarating downhill sprint. Best combined with the estuary boat trip.
The signature arrival: climb 102 steps up Eastern Tower, clip into a double-cable harness, and fly 400 meters at up to 50 kmph over the jungle canopy and the river, finishing with a pass over the face of Raging Big Sister Falls and landing at the Landing Zone Bar. Can be repeated as many times as desired. Guests who prefer to walk in may, but the zipline is a camp tradition.
33-meter (108-foot) black steel pool inspired by traditional groundwater cisterns, with gin-clear water, forest canopy shade, and views of the waterfall below. G&T optional but recommended.
Golden hour cocktails on a large flat boulder mid-river, natural divots serving as ice buckets, campfire going, tiny toothless fish nibbling at dangling toes. One of the camp's most beloved rituals.
