Why It Matters
The architecture alone is reason enough to come. Killa Design's 73 stainless-steel orbs were custom-built in the UAE, shipped to the island, and installed as plug-and-play units to protect the coral reefs below. The resort is entirely solar-powered with zero generators, sits within a pristine 2,081 km² Al Wajh lagoon, and is the Saudi government's flagship statement property under Vision 2030. Two MICHELIN Keys awarded.
Shebara is 73 polished stainless-steel orbs hovering above the Red Sea on a private island, designed by Killa Design (the architects behind Dubai's Museum of the Future) and opened in November 2024. Entirely solar-powered, the resort sits 25 km offshore between Umluj and Al-Wajh, accessible only by seaplane or boat. It's the first ultra-luxury resort created entirely under Saudi ownership and holds Two MICHELIN Keys.

Four Bedroom Beach Royal Villa
The top tier. At 900 sqm (451 sqm interior + 449 sqm exterior), this four-bedroom villa comes with a private dock for your yacht, sleeping eight adults and four children. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet, double shower, double vanity, freestanding bathtub, and dressing table. The villa includes a study room and media room in addition to the living areas. The Royal Ensemble can be booked as individual villas or taken in its entirety. Enquiries only — not available through the standard online booking flow.

Same mirrored orb design as the overwater villas but set on pale sands among softly sculpted dunes, date palms, and tamarisk trees. At 248 sqm, the beach villas actually have more total area than the entry-level overwater version, thanks to the larger exterior footprint (145 sqm outside vs 85 sqm). Interior layout is identical — king bed, double shower, double vanity, bathtub — but the outdoor space feels more expansive with a generous terrace around the infinity pool.

The entry-level overwater villa is a polished stainless-steel orb suspended above the Red Sea on minimal-footprint columns set more than 50 m back from the natural coral reef. Inside, curved sand-hued walls are edged with black detailing, wave-like linen sofas follow the orb's contours, and an automated crimson-and-red-leather minibar opens hydraulically. The bathroom has a double shower, double vanity, freestanding bathtub, and enclosed toilet and bidet. Outside, an infinity pool merges visually with the sea — temperature-adjustable on request — with a sunken lounge, double daybed, and outdoor shower.

Part of the Crown Villas Ensemble on a private islet of the island. At 692 sqm (317 sqm interior + 375 sqm exterior), this three-bedroom villa sleeps six adults and three children. First and second master bedrooms each have a king bed, double shower, double vanity, separate toilet and bidet, bathtub, and dressing table. Third bedroom has two queen beds and a full bathroom. The outdoor area is resort-grade: infinity pool with loungers, deck, outdoor terrace, outdoor dining, outdoor lounge, BBQ station, outdoor bar, and double outdoor shower. Staff room included.
