Semiramis Hotel
Bold pop-art design hotel meets contemporary art gallery. Think Miami energy filtered through a Karim Rashid sketchbook — candy colors, organic forms, and zero apology for any of it.
The pool is a summer destination for Kifissia locals, not just hotel guests — it gets busy on weekends, and the €60 weekend entrance fee applies.
Why It Matters
Greece's first genuinely design-forward hotel, opened around 2004 and named one of Condé Nast Traveller's 60 Best New Hotels in the World in 2005. The art collection rotates bi-annually and is museum-quality — works by Jeff Koons, Tim Noble, and Sue Webster have all been on display. It's also a full member of Design Hotels and bookable via Marriott Bonvoy.
Semiramis is what happens when a celebrated art collector (Dakis Joannou) hands the keys to a radical industrial designer (Karim Rashid) and says do whatever you want. The result is 51 rooms of lollipop pinks, lime greens, and neon yellows set in the leafy, upscale Kifissia suburb of Athens — about as far from a whitewashed Greek island fantasy as you can get. It's playful, it's loud, and it genuinely commits to the bit: opaque glass bathroom walls, light-box art installations above the beds, Wavelength Sofas in the lobby, and a flashing YE$ neon by Tim Noble and Sue Webster hanging in the lounge.
