Why It Matters
One of the very few properties in Croatia that combines a working natural winery, design hotel, and restaurant under one roof. Winemaker Mladen Rožanić is among Croatia's most respected natural wine producers, and staying here means full access to his cellar — a Turato-designed underground space with four levels dedicated to vinification, maceration, ageing, and archiving. Falstaff awarded the restaurant 90 points in 2024.
A winery and design hotel perched on a hillside beneath the medieval town of Motovun in central Istria, overlooking the Mirna River valley. The property was designed by architect Idis Turato, with a working winery carved six levels into the hill below the hotel. Thirty-two rooms go heavy on bold color and Italian 60s-inspired design — no two look the same.
