Riad Antara
Quietly contemporary boutique riad — zellige and Moroccan textiles meet art and modern restraint. No fussy excess. Think Parisian minimalism filtered through Moroccan craft. Two patios, bougainvillea rooftop, and a genuine sense of calm the moment the carved door shuts behind you.

Why It Matters
Michelin Guide selection and Tablet Hotels member. One of only seven suites, owners-on-site experience, genuinely personal hospitality that guests consistently describe as its defining feature. Rated 9.8 on Booking.com and 9.9 on iCastelli.
A former Saadian residence, rebuilt from the foundations up and opened in late 2017, Riad Antara sits behind an ornately carved wooden door a short walk from the Bahia Palace. Just seven suites, owned and run by Parisians Anne and Laurent — guests arrive to find their shoe size asked and babouche slippers waiting by the door. The solar-heated pool has counter-current technology so it's small but actually swimmable, and 11 solar panels plus walls up to a meter thick keep the place genuinely eco-efficient and cool year-round.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Laurent actively arranges custom day trips — Sahara desert excursions, Atlas Mountains drives, Ouzoud Waterfalls, camel rides, and hot-air balloon flights over the Moroccan landscape with operators like Ciel d'Afrique and Dunes & Desert.
Can be arranged through the riad on request — Moroccan cooking experiences.
Traditional two-person hammam with steam, plus a treatment room for massages and body treatments. Solar-powered. Available to in-house guests.
The riad sits within easy walking distance of Bahia Palace (6 min), El Badi Palace, Dar Si Said Museum, the Mellah (Jewish quarter), and Jemaa el-Fnaa (15 min). Laurent personally briefs guests on routes and will sketch a customised map.
The bougainvillea-draped rooftop terrace swaps out the medina noise for birdsong and open sky. A pastel-pink rooftop at sunset turns the surrounding terracotta rooftops a rich red. Popular for morning breakfast, afternoon lounging, and pre-dinner drinks.
Small but smart: counter-current swimming technology makes the pool genuinely swimmable despite its compact size. Palm trees and pouffes surround it, with a floor-to-ceiling mirror angled to reflect the riad rather than the swimmers.
