Residenza Napoleone III
Grand aristocratic palazzo apartment — think six massive oil paintings on the walls, one of which IS the headboard, another concealing a marble bathroom. Old master paintings, 16th-century tapestries, parquet floors, hand-stencilled walls. Deeply private, deeply opulent.

Why It Matters
One of the world's most genuinely historic places to stay. You're not in a hotel dressed up to look palatial — you're in an actual palace where Napoleon III lived, still decorated with the same furnishings and artworks. The Ruspoli family has owned it since the 18th century and the current princess still lives here.
This is not a hotel in any conventional sense. It's two private apartments inside the 16th-century Palazzo Ruspoli — a working aristocratic palace still owned by Prince Pietro and Princess Letizia Ruspoli. The place is named after Emperor Napoleon III, who actually lived here in 1830. Every painting, tapestry, and piece of furniture is the real thing.
