Why It Matters
First new-build full-service hotel in California's high desert in 15+ years. Co-founded by architect and designer Ben Uyeda, who built a massive social media following documenting the hotel's modular construction. The property claims to be the only hotel with direct access to Joshua Tree National Park's North Entrance. On 180 acres, only 10 of which are developed.
RESET opened in July 2025 on 180 acres right at Joshua Tree National Park's North Entrance — the first new-build hotel in the area in over 15 years. The architecture says it all: modular, corrugated-sided cabins arranged in clean rows across the desert floor, designed to nearly disappear into the landscape. No TVs. No single-use plastics. Every room has a private patio with a Solo Stove fire pit, and the top room category plants a stone soaking tub directly in the outdoor space.

Oriented inward rather than toward the park. The biggest private patio of any room at 600 sq ft, making it the better pick for guests who plan to spend most of their time moving around the property. Natural finishes, king bed, and a quiet home base feel.

Moonlight Queen Suite
The smallest and most private room at RESET. Designed for solo travelers and pet owners. Fully enclosed patio with a fire pit and outdoor daybed — good for stargazing without the exposed sightlines of the larger rooms. The interior is compact at 135 sq ft, but the enclosed 360 sq ft patio gives it its own feel.
QueenMountain View King Suite
Park-facing sightlines without the soaking tub. Unobstructed views into Joshua Tree National Park define the room. Interiors are deliberately restrained so the desertscape stays front and center. Same 268 sq ft interior, 500 sq ft private patio with Solo Stove fire pit.
KingMountain View Suite With Outdoor Tub
The standout room at RESET. The outdoor stone soaking tub anchors the private patio, putting you directly in the desert air with mountain views. Inside, a pared-back layout with a king bed and natural finishes. The patio at 500 sq ft is nearly twice the size of the indoor room — the design is intentional.
