Award-winning eco-architecture meets serious adventure lodge. No TVs in rooms (by design), no elevator, almost no right angles in the whole building. Lots of silence, native wood smells, and vast fjord views. The philosophy is deliberate disconnection: this is a place that trusts the landscape to do the heavy lifting.
B&B guests can use all lodge facilities (pool, spa, lounges) but must book excursions independently in Puerto Natales — the lodge's guided excursions are exclusively for Soft and Adventure program guests.
Why It Matters
One of Chile's most architecturally significant hotels, featured in the Michelin Guide and a member of Virtuoso and the ORVIS fly fishing network. Germán del Sol's design — 7,000+ sqm built on 50,000+ sqm of virgin land — actively competes with nothing, which is the whole point. The lodge also runs the most varied semi-private excursion program in the Puerto Natales area, with bilingual guides and its own fleet of vehicles.
Remota is a 72-room eco-lodge sitting low on the shore of Última Esperanza Sound, just 1.5km from Puerto Natales. Designed by Germán del Sol — National Architecture Prize winner and the same architect behind Explora Patagonia and Explora Atacama — the building takes its form from Patagonian sheep-shearing sheds: black, wind-angled, with a living grass roof that makes it nearly disappear into the hillside. Inside, it opens up completely. Guaitecas cypress wood, large windows flooding rooms with steep-angled southern light, and a restaurant that consistently surprises guests who expected lodge-standard food.

From USD270 / nightAll 72 rooms at Remota are the same type and size: 33 sqm, built from Guaitecas cypress wood (an aromatic native Chilean timber), with large windows framing either the Última Esperanza Fjord or the Paine mountain range. The aesthetic is deliberately spare — no TV, minimal decoration, stone and aged wood throughout. Central heating keeps things warm. Beds are either king or twin. What you're paying for is the light, the smell of the wood, and that view.

The building has ramps and stairs but no elevator. The sloped multi-level architecture means some mobility limitations for guests who require it.
Two event/meeting rooms of approximately 1,615 sqft each, with a maximum capacity of 120 people per room. Suitable for corporate retreats and group gatherings.
