Why It Matters
One of the few properties in Tuscany with a 1 Michelin star restaurant on-site, led by chef-owner Silvia Baracchi. The estate operates its own Baracchi Winery, making this a proper wine resort. Named Italy's Top Hotel and 3rd in Europe by Travel & Leisure (2007-2008). Member of Relais & Châteaux.
A 17th-century Tuscan villa belonging to the Baracchi family for generations, completely restored and transformed into a 5-star country relais with the spirit of a wine resort. Thirty-one individually decorated rooms spread across several historic buildings, a Michelin-starred restaurant carved out of the estate's ancient lemon house, and the Thesan Etruscan Spa — all sitting on a working vineyard 3km outside Cortona. Silvia and Benedetto Baracchi run it personally, which you feel immediately.

The entry-level option and the most intimate room on the property. Simple, refined, and honest about its size. Windows frame views over the Cortona countryside through wisteria and lavender hedges. Floors are travertine or terracotta; fabrics are handwoven Busatti loom. Not for guests who need a sprawling room, but the countryside views make up for the footprint.

Spread across two different sections of the relais, the Deluxe rooms step up with a proper sitting area. Many feature frescoed ceilings — the kind that feel genuinely antique, not a reproduction. Garden or vineyard views depending on which section you're in.

The most characterful and unusual accommodation at the property — a converted tower room with a distinctly romantic, slightly theatrical atmosphere. Limited availability makes it the first to book out. No size published officially, but expect intimacy over square footage.
DoubleWinery Master Suite
The standout accommodation on the property. Built on the upper floor of the working winery, it's essentially a self-contained residence: three bedrooms, three bathrooms, a panoramic terrace overlooking the vineyards and Cortona, and a private garden with a six-person hot tub. Busatti fabrics in natural tones, scent of the wine barrels below, total privacy. Perfect split between two couples or a family.
