Ask for the Historical Tour of the building — it covers secret rooms, original wartime details, and the grand staircase where Churchill delivered daily speeches

Why It Matters

Ranked No. 13 on The World's 50 Best Hotels 2024 (Highest New Entry). London's first Guerlain Spa. Nine restaurants anchored by three Michelin-starred chefs. Five Heritage Suites in the actual former offices of Churchill, Lord Haldane, and spy Christine Granville. The building was the birthplace of MI5 and MI6 and a direct inspiration for Ian Fleming's James Bond.

The Old War Office — built in 1906, home to Churchill, Fleming, and MI6 — is now Raffles' first London hotel. The Grade II* Edwardian Baroque building took eight years and $1.76 billion to restore, and it shows: grand alabaster staircases, mosaic floors, carved stone fireplaces, and corridors that genuinely feel like history. 120 rooms and suites, nine restaurants, three bars, London's first Guerlain Spa, and a speakeasy hidden in what used to be classified government vaults.
