Why It Matters
One of the most design-forward places to stay in northern Portugal outside Porto itself. Selected for the Michelin Guide and listed on Tablet Hotels. The property opened in 2023, so it's new, but the bones are historic. It's owned by Grupo Solar do Burguês, a regional hospitality group with deep local roots.
A renovated country estate in the Areias district of Santo Tirso, about 30 minutes from Porto. Renovated stone houses are arranged around manicured gardens with a palm tree-framed outdoor pool. Rooms and suites keep original details like exposed stone walls and French doors, while the three standalone villas — one with a private pool, one tucked into the forest — push things further upscale. Rustic charm with original stone and timber details from the estate's renovation. Feels genuinely historic — exposed stonework, private balcony or patio, and a king or twin setup. Good for up to 3 guests.

Built specifically for families, with a balcony offering garden or mountain views. Spacious layout with a living area and 49-inch TV. Has a fireplace, which is a nice touch in the colder months.
Forest Villa
Tucked away in a forested corner of the estate. Delicate lighting, a statement freestanding bathtub, and a strong sense of privacy. The most romantic villa option. Also pet-friendly.
Grand Deluxe Room
A bigger, lighter version of the Deluxe, at 45 sqm. The interiors blend the old and the new more openly — more glass, more natural light. Sleeps up to 4, making it viable for families. No private outdoor space listed.
