Quartara Resort Hotel
Traditional Aeolian elegance with a slow-living philosophy. Each room is individually decorated with Sicilian artisan pieces. Think whitewash walls, warm terracotta, handmade ceramics — not generic luxury. The atmosphere is intimate and residential rather than grand-hotel formal.

Why It Matters
Winner of Best Hotel in Sicily at the 2018 Best in Sicily awards. Selected by the Michelin Guide and member of Les Collectionneurs. Restaurant Broccia is a member of 'Le Soste di Ulisse,' a prestigious Sicilian culinary association. Only 4-star property on Panarea. The hotel occupies a plateau with uninterrupted views over the port and faraglioni.
Quartara is a family-run 4-star boutique hotel on Panarea — the smallest of the Aeolian Islands and the first 4-star property on the island. Perched on the Piano Quartara plateau above the harbour, it looks out over the port and the volcanic sea stacks (faraglioni). Everything here is handcrafted: teak furniture, lava-stone floors sourced from Caltagirone, hand-painted tiles from Santo Stefano di Camastra. The Cappelli family runs both the hotel and the Broccia restaurant, and that personal touch is the whole point.

The hotel recommends and can help arrange snorkelling at Cala Junco, Lisca Nera, Lisca Bianca, and around the Basiluzzo and Dattilo islets. Partner dive centres Amphibia and EoloSub are the local operators.
Hotel can advise on the trail to Panarea's highest point at 421m. The path passes through Mediterranean maquis — cistus, heather, myrtle, broom — with views extending to Stromboli from the summit. Descent leads to the prehistoric village at Capo Milazzese and Cala Junco bay.
