Post House
Historic coastal charm meets considered design — beadboard walls, handmade tile showers, mid-century furniture, and antique artwork, without feeling stale or self-conscious. The restaurant below buzzes with neighborhood energy. Upstairs, it's quietly personal.
Room 7 is the only room with a bathtub — and there's a skylight directly above it. Book it for anniversaries.
Why It Matters
One of very few Michelin Key–winning properties in South Carolina. Featured on the Travel + Leisure IT List 2022 and named by Vogue as one of the '15 Most Charming Boutique Hotels in the U.S.' The building dates to 1896 and has been a neighborhood anchor ever since. Now operated by The Indigo Road Hospitality Group after original founders Ben and Kate Towill sold in 2025.
Post House is a seven-room coastal inn sitting inside an 1896 building in Mount Pleasant's historic Old Village — just across the bridge from downtown Charleston. Think: wide-plank floors, William Morris wallpaper, locally-curated minibars, and a genuinely great restaurant downstairs that locals actually eat at. The Michelin Guide calls it best understood as 'a very fine restaurant with a handful of beautifully crafted guest rooms,' and that's pretty much exactly right. Rates start at $250/night.
