Room 'Tu' (Room 7, top floor) has the most direct view of Mount Merbabu's peak — worth requesting specifically.

Why It Matters

Widely recognized as the world's skinniest hotel at just 2.8 meters wide. Featured by CNN, Dezeen, Domus, Archdaily, and the Michelin Guide. It is a passion project by architect Ary Indra, who returned to his hometown of Salatiga specifically to put it on the map for design-minded travelers. Each of the seven rooms has a different theme, name, and color story, with original local artwork throughout.

PituRooms is a seven-room micro-hotel on Jalan Sukowati in central Salatiga, built on a plot just 2.8 meters (9 feet) wide and 12 meters long — almost certainly the world's skinniest hotel. Designed by local architect Ary Indra (Sahabat Selojene) and opened in December 2022, it reclaimed an unwanted sliver of land that developers had long ignored. The building rises 17 meters tall across six stacked levels, with a capsule elevator, floating steel staircases, and seven rooms each dressed in a distinct color palette and local artwork. The top-floor PituLongue lounge opens to panoramic views of four mountain peaks and a lake.

Ji — Careless Whisper

From IDR1,100,000 / night

Ground-level room with one special alleyway window. Wake up to the sounds of the kampung — vegetable vendors, breakfast sellers, neighbors chatting. Raw and real. As local as it gets.

Birds in the mango tree next door. This room is a slow one — for good music, whimsical artwork, and genuine 'me time.' Another take on the Slow White palette, a bit more nature-facing.

Nem — The Timbre of Blue

From IDR1,100,000 / night

Teak wood meets pale blue in an unusual combination that actually works. The artwork references childhood memories, and the view of the opposite building — with its 'shady past' according to the hotel — is oddly compelling at night.

Textures and colors collide under a naked waffle ceiling. The ombre wardrobe wall was an accident of construction that became the room's signature feature. Accidentally aesthetic — and memorable.
