Pink Sands
Understated old-world luxury. Quiet, private, and rooted in authentic Bahamian character. Not a splashy pool-party resort — more the place where guests read novels on their porch and take long morning walks on the beach.
Ocean view cottages cost nearly twice as much as garden-view ones, but you get direct beach path access and unobstructed Atlantic views — worth it if beach proximity is your priority
Why It Matters
One of the original luxury resorts in the Bahamas, directly fronting the famous pink sand beach that gives the property its name. Ranked #1 hotel on Harbour Island by TripAdvisor. Member of Preferred Hotels & Resorts LVX Collection and Tablet Hotels. Organic garden on-site feeds both restaurants. Guests have included Paul McCartney.
Pink Sands Resort has been one of the Bahamas' most storied escapes since it opened in 1951, founded by the Malcolm family as a winter retreat for the well-heeled. Set on 20 acres of tropical gardens along a legendary three-mile stretch of pink-tinged Atlantic sand, it feels more like a private village than a hotel — 33 freestanding cottages, villas, and estate homes scattered along palm-shaded paths through hibiscus, frangipani, and fruit trees. The aesthetic is British Colonial meets barefoot Bahamian: think hardwood floors, teak furniture, open-air showers, and screened-in windows that let the trade winds do what the AC would otherwise handle.
