Why It Matters

One of the few all-suite hotels in West Hollywood with a Michelin Key award. Established in 2009, it markets itself as the fashionable alternative to the Chateau Marmont — quieter, more intimate, and with an actual no-photos-or-videos policy at the pool. The private art collection alone (originals by Dalí, de Kooning, Rauschenberg, Miró, and Erté) would be noteworthy even without the rooftop.

Petit Ermitage is an 80-suite, suite-only boutique hotel on a quiet residential street just below the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Named as a tribute to Catherine the Great's Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the property leans hard into the reference — jewel-toned interiors, original art from Dalí, Miró, de Kooning and Rauschenberg, hand-troweled Venetian plaster walls, handwoven Turkish rugs, and Moroccan tiles layered throughout. The crown jewel is the private rooftop: a heated saltwater pool (topless-friendly after noon), a fire deck, lush garden dining, and cabanas with 360-degree views of the Hollywood Hills.

Where You'll Stay

12 room types available

Belle Suite

Belle Suite

Individually designed — no two are identical. Each Belle Suite has a deluxe king, balcony, marble bathroom, walk-in closet, fireplace, and a custom marble bar. Rich fabrics and residential detailing make this a popular choice for longer stays. The floral pink wallpaper, plush green rugs, and light-up vanity in some configurations are the kind of thing guests post about (even though the pool strictly forbids it).

Demi Double
Suite

Demi Double

Same 350 sq ft footprint as the Demi Suite but with two full-size beds for up to four guests. Has the same fireplace, original art, and European residential atmosphere. A quiet, art-filled option for friends traveling together who don't need a lot of extra floor space.

Demi Suite
Suite

Demi Suite

The entry-level room, though calling it that feels reductive. At 350 sq ft it's compact, but a working fireplace, writing desk, original artwork, and layered textiles make it feel like a proper studio apartment rather than a hotel room. A good pick for solo travelers or couples who plan to spend most of their time on the rooftop.

Executive Suite
Suite

Executive Suite

At 550 sq ft, the Executive Suite offers more room to spread out. A gracious living area, fireplace, and Scandia bedding emphasize rest over performance. Art and detailing reflect the hotel's cultural sensibility. Designed for repeat guests who return often and stay awhile.

Grand Belle Bleue
Suite

Grand Belle Bleue

One of the signature grand suites. Marble and bronze detailing, rare artwork compositions, and richly layered textiles shape the 550 sq ft. French doors open into the space, and a marble bath, concealed TV lift, and custom bar reinforce the sense that this was designed for someone with discernment. Feels curated, not staged.

Grand Belle Rouge
Suite

Grand Belle Rouge

Designed by Dana Hollister, the Grand Belle Rouge reads as a living gallery. Handmade Chinoiserie screens, vintage tapestry seating, and art-forward interiors. A wraparound balcony adds an outdoor moment above the city. Marble bathroom, gilded fireplace, concealed TV lift, and custom bar — expressive yet contained.

Grand Belle Terrace

Grand Belle Terrace

Designed by hotel owner Dana Hollister, this is the most theatrical option in the lineup. French doors open to a private terrace with its own outdoor fireplace — so you have two fireplaces in one suite. A marble bathroom with a stand-alone bathtub, gilded interior fireplace, concealed TV lift, and custom bar complete the picture. Maximalist and proud of it.

Grand Belle Verte
Suite

Grand Belle Verte

Jewel-toned interiors, vintage fabrics, and surrealist artwork pulled from the hotel's evolving collection. At 550 sq ft, it adds French doors, a marble bathroom, walk-in closet, and a sitting area to the expected fireplace and custom bar. Immersive and transportive — a deliberate counterpoint to LA's prevailing minimalism.

Junior King Suite
Suite

Junior King Suite

The king-bed equivalent of the Junior Queen, at the same 450 sq ft. Pairs a deluxe king bed with a sunken living area and writing desk. Layered interiors and a fireplace make it feel cultivated rather than corporate. A strong middle-ground choice.
