Petit Ermitage
Neo-bohemian European maximalism. Think Tsarist decadence filtered through West Hollywood's creative class — dark, plush, theatrical, and genuinely art-forward. Not a hotel for minimalists or anyone who wants to see their own reflection on a glass wall.
Pool beds are free but require reservations on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays — book ahead or you won't get one
Why It Matters
One of the few all-suite hotels in West Hollywood with a Michelin Key award. Established in 2009, it markets itself as the fashionable alternative to the Chateau Marmont — quieter, more intimate, and with an actual no-photos-or-videos policy at the pool. The private art collection alone (originals by Dalí, de Kooning, Rauschenberg, Miró, and Erté) would be noteworthy even without the rooftop.
Petit Ermitage is an 80-suite, suite-only boutique hotel on a quiet residential street just below the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. Named as a tribute to Catherine the Great's Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, the property leans hard into the reference — jewel-toned interiors, original art from Dalí, Miró, de Kooning and Rauschenberg, hand-troweled Venetian plaster walls, handwoven Turkish rugs, and Moroccan tiles layered throughout. The crown jewel is the private rooftop: a heated saltwater pool (topless-friendly after noon), a fire deck, lush garden dining, and cabanas with 360-degree views of the Hollywood Hills.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel's extensive private art collection is displayed throughout hallways and suites. Originals by Salvador Dalí, Willem de Kooning, Joan Miró, Robert Rauschenberg, and Erté, among others. It's not a curated walk-through, but you'll encounter major works throughout your stay.
The hotel offers private event space across the rooftop, pool deck, fire deck, and garden. The Pool Deck buyout includes exclusive access to all rooftop areas. Suitable for brand launches, private celebrations, leadership retreats, and creative sessions.
Outdoor fire deck on the rooftop for evening cocktails and lounging. Has been used for private events and movie nights. A distinct space from the pool and garden.
Rooftop yoga sessions included as part of the daily resort fee.
Heated saltwater pool on the private rooftop with 360-degree views of the Hollywood Hills. Topless sunbathing permitted after noon. Pool beds are complimentary (max 2 per bed) but require advance reservations on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (3-hour increments). Private cabanas available with a $400 F&B minimum for a 4-hour block (max 4 guests). No photos or videos policy in effect.
1,314 sq ft of open-air garden above West Hollywood. Designated by the National Wildlife Federation as a butterfly and hummingbird sanctuary. Used for dining, private events, and cocktails. The area beyond the arch accommodates 40–50 guests; the full garden holds up to 80 for a reception.
