This 5-star Pestana Collection hotel lives inside the century-old Cafetaria Portuense A Brasileira, Porto's first café to serve coffee in a cup when it opened on 4 May 1903. The building was carefully restored to preserve its original 19th-century facade and ground-floor layout, and the iconic café is still running downstairs. The 89 rooms span six floors, each themed after a spice from Portugal's Age of Discovery — anise, coffee, cinnamon, tea, chocolate, and pink pepper — which gives the place a specific, coherent identity rather than generic luxury-hotel-beige. No pool, no spa. But you're four minutes on foot from Avenida dos Aliados and about 12 minutes from Ribeira.
