Why It Matters
One of the few large-scale resort hotels in the Porto metro area. The former factory conversion opened in 2022, and the aromatherapy concept — each floor dedicated to a different flower fragrance from the factory's soap-making days — gives it a genuinely distinctive identity. Add the Douro riverfront location, rooftop infinity pool, and a surprisingly complete congress center and it covers a lot of ground.
A 5-star resort hotel converted from an 1888 soap and candle factory on the right bank of the Douro River. The industrial past is mostly invisible — what you get now is airy white rooms with floral art, most with Douro-facing balconies, an outdoor infinity pool on the rooftop terrace, and a full spa. Each floor is themed around a flower fragrance (lavender, jasmine, rose, lily and more) as a nod to the scented soaps once made here. Porto is 10-15 minutes by taxi; the hotel feels like a resort but the city is never far.
