A 22-room art-filled boutique hotel in Athens' upscale Kolonaki neighborhood, conceived by art collector Dakis Joannou and designed by deca Architecture. The whole place is built around the concept of urban surveillance — commissioned between 9/11 and the 2004 Athens Olympics, when CCTV cameras were taking over the city. Thirteen custom art installations run throughout the building, aerial photographs of Athens paper the ceilings, and a rooftop surveillance camera feeds live footage to the ground-floor lobby where guests can pan, tilt, and zoom at will.

Located on the 4th and 5th floors — the most design-forward rooms in the hotel aside from the Penthouse. At 45 sqm they're double the size of a Standard room, with a proper sitting room and a large balcony. The standout feature: panoramic day and night images of Athens hang from ceiling beams made of radiant light boxes, creating a glowing, map-like atmosphere overhead. Up to 3 adults.

The reason people talk about this hotel. A 65 sqm two-level suite with an open-plan living room, office area, and a full-length balcony with teak decking. The private Jacuzzi sits on that deck with the Acropolis seemingly rising out of it when you look up. At night, lit against the Athens skyline, it's hard to beat. Accommodates up to 3 adults. All the standard amenities apply: Simmons mattress, pillow menu, minibar, safe, satellite TV.

The real upgrade here is the ceiling: aerial photographs of Athens by Nikos Daniilidis, shot from a helicopter around the 2004 Olympics, are printed directly overhead. Thirteen custom art installations are built into the hotel structure. The centrepiece is a rooftop camera connected to lobby projector screens — guests can pan, tilt, and zoom across Athens via a custom joystick (the CAMTROLL). Other installations include animated 3D films of giant animals strolling through Athens, a shadow-study mural on the facade, and postcard stands featuring the surveillance obelisks installed for the 2004 Olympics.
