Passalacqua is an 18th-century aristocratic villa on the western shore of Lake Como, opened in June 2022 after a three-year restoration by the De Santis family — the same hoteliers behind the Grand Hotel Tremezzo. Just 24 rooms across three buildings, seven acres of terraced gardens, a private dock, and no outside guests: the whole property is yours and your fellow guests' to roam. Named #1 World's Best Hotel in 2023 and World's Best Boutique Hotel in 2024 and 2025, it earned its stripes by feeling almost nothing like a hotel.

Complimentary off-site cultural experiences led by locals — intimate visits to the Church of St. Agata with Maestra Ena (a lifelong Moltrasio resident), behind-the-scenes tours to meet artists at La Piccola Scala, prime seating at Teatro Sociale, mountain hikes, hidden waterfall walks, and village exploration.

Hands-on with the kitchen team — kneading pasta dough, baking, wine tastings. The open kitchen policy means these can be impromptu as much as scheduled. Chef Viviana Varese leads formal classes.
Take to the lake on one of two classic wooden motor launches: Giumello II for gentle sunset cruises and discovery voyages, or the sportier Didi (with sundeck and swim platform) for longer jaunts. The fleet also includes the Riva Aquariva Passalacqua and vintage Riva Olympic. Beppe has worked the lake his whole life.
Guests have exclusive access to the private jetty and dock area at the water's edge. Adirondack chairs, the vintage boat fleet, and direct water access.
Outdoor gym equipment installed in the estate's olive grove, with lake views throughout. There's also an indoor greenhouse gym with the latest equipment for rainy days.

The garden-terrace pool sits just below the main Villa, edged by climbing roses and a bay tree. Looks directly over the lake. Suited for both lap swimming and sprawling in the sun.
The hotel's bright orange vintage open-top Fiat 500 — la Spiaggina — ferries guests around the property's hilly terrain. Equal parts practical and delightful.
