A 19th-century mansion turned 12-key boutique hotel sitting dead center in Saint-Tropez. The story behind it is real: French general Jean-François Allard built it in 1835 as a gift for his beloved, Indian princess Bannu Pan Deï. The Indian aesthetic running through every room doesn't feel like a design brief — dark carved woodwork, shimmering rugs, four-poster beds and 19th-century paintings make it feel like someone actually lived here. The mosaic-tiled pool hidden in a walled garden is the undisputed draw, and the fact that it stays open year-round sets it apart from most of Saint-Tropez.

Looks out over the hotel's inner courtyard rather than the street, giving a quieter, greener feel. High ceilings, parquet floors, mashrabiya (carved wood latticework screens), period sofas and colourful paintings create a layered, lived-in atmosphere. Named after Indian figures — Surya, Chandra, Maharajah Rajit Singh — each suite carries its own embroidered rugs and vibrant artworks evoking a Rajasthani palace. Spacious bathrooms with both shower and bathtub. Good pick for a romantic trip where you want a little more breathing room than the Superior Rooms offer. Princess Suite
Designed for flexibility and privacy. Warm wooden floors, antique doors, and richly coloured textiles throughout. The suite comes with a master bedroom (king or twin), a separate living room that doubles as a second bedroom, two full bathrooms and — crucially — two private entrances. This is the one to book for a family or two couples travelling together. Can be expanded further by connecting to an adjacent Junior Suite Village.

Compact at 20 sqm but well-composed. High ceilings and generous natural light through windows facing the village streets partially offset the size. Indian textiles, hand-carved woodwork and a large bed make these feel more considered than most city-center rooms of this footprint. Named after Indian deities — Akhanda, Arati, Deva — each has its own character. On request, some Superior Rooms connect to a Junior Suite for families or groups wanting more space.

Tropezian Suite
The hotel's crown jewel. 50 sqm on the top floor with a private terrace that sweeps over the terracotta rooftops of Saint-Tropez. Two bedrooms (a master with lounge area plus an adjoining second), two walk-in wardrobes, and a substantial bathroom with both freestanding bathtub and shower. Parquet floors, carved panelling and soft Punjab-inspired textiles. Velux roof windows flood the space with light. This is the suite you book for a honeymoon or an anniversary trip when you want to actually see the town from above.

Pan Deï Palais guests have full access to the Château de la Messardière's facilities, a short Rolls-Royce ride away: 1,000 sqm Airelles Spa (Valmont treatments), tennis courts, outdoor gym, and multiple restaurants. This is effectively an extension of the hotel's own offering and dramatically expands what's available despite the small size.
Children ages 3 and up have access to the full Airelles Summer Camp at the nearby Château de la Messardière — a pirate ship, go-karting, table football, a garden cabin, cinema room, pool time and more. Free transfer via Mini-Moke is included. Advance booking through the concierge is recommended.
Electric bikes available at the hotel on reservation — a practical way to explore the town and surrounding area without battling Saint-Tropez's notoriously difficult parking and traffic.
