Pan Dei Palais
Intimate Indo-French boutique with serious personal service. Feels more like a private residence than a hotel — only 12 keys, staff learns your name by day two, and a dedicated butler is standard.
Book the Tropézienne Suite if a private terrace and rooftop views are your priority — it's on the top floor and the panorama over the terracotta rooftops is worth the premium.
Why It Matters
One of the only luxury hotels in the center of Saint-Tropez to have both a private pool and private beach access. Rare year-round operation. Part of the Airelles Collection alongside Château de la Messardière, giving guests access to far more facilities — Valmont Spa, multiple restaurants, tennis, a kids' club — than the tiny room count would suggest.
A 19th-century mansion turned 12-key boutique hotel sitting dead center in Saint-Tropez. The story behind it is real: French general Jean-François Allard built it in 1835 as a gift for his beloved, Indian princess Bannu Pan Deï. The Indian aesthetic running through every room doesn't feel like a design brief — dark carved woodwork, shimmering rugs, four-poster beds and 19th-century paintings make it feel like someone actually lived here. The mosaic-tiled pool hidden in a walled garden is the undisputed draw, and the fact that it stays open year-round sets it apart from most of Saint-Tropez.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Pan Deï Palais guests have full access to the Château de la Messardière's facilities, a short Rolls-Royce ride away: 1,000 sqm Airelles Spa (Valmont treatments), tennis courts, outdoor gym, and multiple restaurants. This is effectively an extension of the hotel's own offering and dramatically expands what's available despite the small size.
Children ages 3 and up have access to the full Airelles Summer Camp at the nearby Château de la Messardière — a pirate ship, go-karting, table football, a garden cabin, cinema room, pool time and more. Free transfer via Mini-Moke is included. Advance booking through the concierge is recommended.
Electric bikes available at the hotel on reservation — a practical way to explore the town and surrounding area without battling Saint-Tropez's notoriously difficult parking and traffic.
A hamper of freshly baked pastries, charcuterie, seasonal fruit and fine rosé wine, set up in a secluded spot in the vast gardens of the Château de la Messardière. Arranged by the concierge on request.
A weekly Sunday brunch at Les Délices du Pan Deï featuring sweet and savoury creations alongside pastries from Cédric Grolet. A social event as much as a meal — live music, an easy pace, and a reason to stay at the table well into the afternoon.
The hotel's private beach club on the Bay of Pampelonne — the most famous stretch of sand on the peninsula. Complimentary sun beds and parasols for guests. Chef Jean-François Piège oversees the food at Jardin Tropézina. Access is by free chauffeur-driven transfer in a classic Mini-Moke jeep or a Rolls-Royce, departing from the hotel. Reserve loungers through the concierge in advance during peak season.
During the annual Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez regatta (late September–early October), the hotel organizes yacht access so guests can follow the racing from the water. One of the great spectacles of the Tropezian calendar.
The hotel team can organize a proper pétanque session at the legendary Place des Lices, where locals have played for decades. As quintessentially Saint-Tropez as it gets.
