Palazzo Dama
Historic Italian palazzo with a confident, art-forward interior. Not fussy — the rooms are understated while the common areas lean into the grandeur. Gold frames, crystal chandeliers sourced from New York's Plaza Hotel, original wooden staircase. Feels like a private villa rather than a hotel.

Why It Matters
Rare among central Rome luxury hotels for having a genuine outdoor marble-lined pool in a garden planted with olive and lemon trees. Named after marquise Anna Maria Malaspina of the Malaspina dynasty — one of the oldest noble families in Europe — who entertained diplomats and aristocrats here. The Peruvian-Nikkei restaurant Pacifico sits in the original opulent dining room.
An 18th-century palazzo on the Lungotevere, Palazzo Dama is named in honor of the aristocratic women of the Malaspina dynasty who once called it home. The well-preserved exterior gives way to interiors that mix high-ceilinged historic rooms with contemporary art, custom furniture from architect Antonio Girardi, and fabrics by Dedar, Loro Piana, and Ralph Lauren. Art Nouveau doors and original marble mosaics mark the entrance. One of the very few five-star hotels in central Rome with a proper outdoor pool.

Marble-lined outdoor swimming pool set in a garden of olive and lemon trees. One of the very few outdoor pools at a five-star city-center hotel in Rome. Long enough for actual laps (not just a dip). Pool is for hotel guests only. Sunloungers on one side, alfresco dining and drinks tables on the other.
The hotel has an on-site nightclub — Raspoutine — in the basement. A nod to the palazzo's historic reputation as a gathering point for Rome's social elite.
Explore Rome from the back seat of a vintage red Fiat 500 with a professional photographer capturing the whole thing. The route covers Piazza Trilussa, the Colosseo, Bocca della Verità, Castel Sant'Angelo, San Pietro, and the hills of Rome — Aventino, Appian Way, Gianicolo, Monte Mario. Built for couples and romantics who want to recreate the Roman Holiday feel.
