Pa.te.os
Brutalist-minimalist architecture meets slow-living eco-retreat. Think raw concrete and cork oak outside, then warm Scandinavian furnishings, handwoven linens, and floating fireplaces inside. It's deliberately quiet — no common areas beyond a shared infinity pool.

Why It Matters
Won Condé Nast Traveler Spain's Best Design & Architecture Hotel award. Designed by celebrated Portuguese architect Manuel Aires Mateus, each of the four houses is a sculptural work set within a working vineyard and farming property. The exclusive fragrance diffused throughout the houses was created by British perfumer Lyn Harris specifically for the property.
Four modernist concrete houses designed by architect Manuel Aires Mateus, set on an 80-hectare wine and farming estate just outside Melides on the Alentejo coast. The name is a pun on the Portuguese word for patios — and that concept drives everything here. Rooms open fully onto private courtyards via floor-to-ceiling retractable glass walls. No lobby, no reception desk, no fuss. Just you, the architecture, and a lot of Atlantic horizon.
