Origins Luxury Lodge
Pre-Columbian-inspired eco-luxury. Deeply remote, romantic, design-forward, rooted in rainforest life and indigenous Maleku culture. French-accented fine dining in the jungle.
The lodge closes annually for maintenance, typically for most of October — confirm dates before booking.
Why It Matters
Only Michelin-listed property in this region of Costa Rica; 111-acre private rainforest estate with B-Corp certification; Maleku-inspired circular lodge architecture; Michelin-starred chef Jean-Luc L'Hourre shaping the menu; on-site Oro Waterfall, yoga pavilion, 11 fishing lagoons, horse stable, and one of the few properties with a private heliport in Costa Rica's interior.
High in Costa Rica's northern rainforest, between Tenorio and Miravalles volcanoes, Origins Luxury Lodge — now also marketed as Origins Floral — is one of the most architecturally striking eco-lodges in Central America. The six circular lodges are drawn from pre-Columbian Maleku roundhouse design, each with a living green roof and a zenithal skylight above the canopy bed; every private terrace delivers a 180° sweep over the valley, volcanoes, and distant Lake Nicaragua. The food is a serious draw too, built from an on-site organic garden, farm, and fishing lagoons, with direction from a Michelin-starred French chef.

Kayaking along the Rio Niño, one of northern Costa Rica's key rivers, home to birds, reptiles, mammals, and fish.
Catch-and-release or catch-and-cook fishing across 11 on-site lagoons stocked with tilapia, rainbow perch, garfish, shrimp, and crayfish. Guests can have their catch prepared by the kitchen.
Guided tour of the estate's organic Mandala Garden (50+ plant varieties), medicinal herb beds, vegetable terraces, and the Pio-Pio Finca farm — where guests can meet Margaret the dairy cow and tour the chicken and quail house. Botanist-led.
Guided hike on the estate to the on-property Oro (Gold) Waterfall, where golden mineral-rich waters are frequented by monkeys, frogs, birds, and butterflies. A genuine highlight that requires no travel off-site.
Guided excursion to the turquoise waters of Rio Celeste inside Tenorio National Park — approximately 1 hour from the lodge. Included in the Honeymoon Package (once per stay).
Exclusive to Origins guests, a natural volcanic mineral pool on the private estate for therapeutic soaking.
Open-air yoga sessions on the estate's Koora deck ('Koora' means Tree in Maleku), presided over by a pre-Columbian shaman statue. Accompanied by the rainforest soundscape.
White water tubing through Class II and III rapids for an adrenaline-charged day on the water.
Guided rafting through Tenorio National Park featuring abundant wildlife — iguanas, tropical birds, and monkeys — along the way, finishing with a 12-foot waterfall drop called Cascabel Falls.
