Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members get enhanced room upgrades — the only room with a private balcony (Room 210) overlooks the Old City rooftops and a mosque across the street.

Why It Matters

Listed in the Michelin Guide and part of Marriott's Autograph Collection. The building is 120 years old and has lived three lives (bank, bookstore, hotel). Rooftop restaurant directly overlooks the Hagia Sophia and the Bosphorus. Walking distance to Istanbul's biggest sights — Blue Mosque, Grand Bazaar, Topkapi Palace, Basilica Cistern — without being in the tourist scrum.

A 120-year-old building in Istanbul's Old City that started life as a bank, became a beloved bookstore, and is now a 40-room boutique hotel. The design borrows from the grand mosques and bazaars just around the corner — decorative wallpapers, colored stained glass, richly textured fabrics, and gold accents throughout. But it doesn't feel heavy. Rooms are on the compact side (some as small as 20 sqm), and there's no pool. What you get instead: a rooftop restaurant with direct Bosphorus and Hagia Sophia views, a proper hammam and spa in the basement, and service that multiple reviewers describe as the best they've ever encountered.

Deluxe Room, 1 King Bed, City View, Balcony

The only room in the hotel with a private outdoor balcony — and it's a good one. Two patio chairs and a coffee table, with rooftop views of the Old City including a mosque directly across the street. The room itself follows the same minimalist-luxury design as the Grand Deluxe, with a curved padded headboard and a green marble-topped minibar console. Typically the upgrade given to Marriott Platinum Elite members when available.

Grand Deluxe Room, 1 King Bed

A meaningful step up in space at 35 sqm — nearly double the standard room. Same design language (rich textiles, decorative wallpapers, gold accents) but with a proper lounging area and more breathing room. Still no bathtub, but the walk-in shower is generous. City views on most.

The entry-level option and, honestly, fine for what it is. Compact at 20–22 sqm, so don't expect to spread out. Minimalist design with high-end touches: custom pillow menu, Egyptian cotton sheets, down comforters, 43-inch TV, mini-fridge, and a walk-in shower with Nerolinn toiletries. Sound-proofed windows keep out the city noise. Some street-view options available.
