Escalante
Americana nostalgia meets modern glamping. Desert basecamp energy without the roughing-it part. Guests gather at a communal open-air lodge, watch movies from restored 1950s classic cars, and cook dinner over private fire pits. Dog-friendly, family-friendly, and genuinely welcoming to everyone.
Weekday stays are significantly cheaper than weekends — same property, lower price
Why It Matters
Named to Travel + Leisure's World's Best Awards and the Sunset Travel Awards. One of the only properties in the Escalante area with a swimming pool. The drive-in movie theater — built on the site of the original Escalante drive-in — screens classic films every night using a fleet of restored vintage American cars as seating. The open-air bathhouses with heated outdoor showers and LATHER products are consistently called out as a standout feature.
Ofland Escalante is a 20-acre glamping resort that opened in 2021 as Yonder Escalante and rebranded in 2024. It sits right on Scenic Byway 12 inside Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, sandwiched between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef National Parks. The property took its name from 'of the land' and leans hard into American road-trip nostalgia — think restored vintage Airstreams, a working drive-in movie theater, and nightly bonfires under some of the darkest skies in the lower 48. It's open March through October.

A fully operational drive-in movie theater built on the site of the original Escalante drive-in. Nine restored mid-century classic American cars serve as seating. Movies screen every night of the week, just after dusk, starting around 8pm. Classic titles dominate (Top Gun, Sandlot, Grease, The Princess Bride). Free popcorn is served from the concession stand Airstream, which opens 30 minutes before showtime. Snacks and drinks are also available for purchase. Dogs are welcome.
Ofland partners with local outfitters including ROAM Outdoor Adventure Co. for guided hikes through Peekaboo, Spooky, and Dry Fork Slot Canyons. A guide is strongly recommended for these hikes. Property staff provide maps and recommendations for independent hiking as well.

Off-road vehicle rentals available through local partner Escalante Wild Rides for exploring the canyon country surrounding the property.
