Why It Matters
The only hotel in the Azores — and one of very few in Europe — where the geothermal infrastructure is genuinely central to the guest experience. The thermal pool circuit runs around the clock. The kitchen cooks food over actual hot springs. And the spa draws on the thermal spring waters known as 'Quente das Quenturas.'
Octant Furnas sits right on top of Europe's highest concentration of hot springs in the Furnas Valley of São Miguel. The building is a reworked historic thermal center — contemporary architecture with volcanic stone, huge glass windows, and earthy natural tones designed by Atelier Nini Andrade Silva. Thermal pools run 24 hours a day, the restaurant's signature stew is slow-cooked in literal holes in the ground over the geothermal heat, and the surrounding valley delivers steaming caldeiras, lush hydrangea-strewn hillsides, and a dormant volcano crater lake all within walking distance.

Comes with the most comprehensive amenity kit including a sun hat, beach bag, digital scales, and Nespresso milk frother.
