Normandy Barrière
Classic French palace hotel with deep cinematic history. Anglo-Norman architecture, toile de Jouy interiors, a decidedly old-money atmosphere. Think less sleek-modern, more beloved-institution — the kind of place that has repeat Parisian guests who've been coming since childhood.

Why It Matters
The hotel opened in 1912 and has been the social hub of Deauville ever since. It's hosted the American Film Festival for 45 years running. The 'Un Homme et une Femme' suite is named for Claude Lelouch's Palme d'Or-winning film shot here in 1966. The Bar du Normandy has 147 different whiskies and a guest list that historically included Jack Nicholson and Nicole Kidman.
Built in 1912, Le Normandy is the flagship property of the Barrière empire in Deauville — a sprawling Anglo-Norman palace with a half-timbered façade that's instantly recognizable. It sits a two-minute walk from the famous Planches boardwalk and is connected via underground tunnel to the Deauville casino. This is where Coco Chanel, Winston Churchill, and Claude Lelouch all left their mark. The 271 rooms and suites are draped in toile de Jouy, the indoor pool glows under a glass roof, and the Belle Époque restaurant packs in locals every Sunday for brunch. It's the only one of the three Barrière hotels in Deauville that stays open year-round.
