hakone myojindai
Serene forest wellness resort. Warm, nature-forward interiors with curvilinear design. Quiet and self-contained — deliberately low stimulation. More contemporary Japanese resort than traditional ryokan.
Dinner at crescita requires a reservation by 5pm the day before — don't forget to book on check-in or you'll miss it entirely
Why It Matters
One of a handful of Hakone resorts where the indoor thermal pool is filled with actual hot spring water from the property's own Miyagino onsen source (one of 17 springs in Hakone). The Italian restaurant crescita genuinely sources ingredients from the hotel's own farm plot and surrounding regional producers — not just a tagline. Tablet Hotels and Michelin Guide selected.
nol hakone myojindai opened in May 2024 as a full renovation of the former Tokyu Harvest Club Hakone Myojindai (1993). Set in the quiet Miyagino villa district — well above Gora Station and away from the more tourist-heavy parts of Hakone — the resort runs on one clear idea: leave everything outside. Guests typically check in, find their private open-air onsen bath, and barely resurface until checkout. The architecture keeps a few retro bones from the original building, softened now by warm curves, natural wood, and considered art placement throughout.
