San Sebastián
Belle Époque shell, Japanese minimalist soul. Small, intimate, and food-forward. This is a property built around Nobu Matsuhisa's cuisine first, hotel second — and it makes no apologies for that.
The Nobu Bar and Terrace is open to the public daily from 12:00–00:00, so you can grab cocktails and bay views even without a hotel booking
Why It Matters
The fifth Nobu hotel in Spain, planted in the city with the highest concentration of Michelin-starred restaurants per square kilometer in the world. Chef Nobu Matsuhisa's Japanese-Peruvian-Basque fusion menu at the on-site restaurant overlooks La Concha Bay. The historic 1912 villa is one of the last of its kind still standing on the bay. Small size (17 rooms) means genuinely attentive service — staff speak English, Spanish, Basque, and French, and guests communicate via a dedicated WhatsApp channel.
Nobu Hotel San Sebastián opened in July 2023 inside the Palacio Vista Eder, a 1912 villa on the Miraconcha promenade designed by Basque architect Francisco Urcola. Only 17 rooms and suites, all facing La Concha Bay. The building's Belle Époque bones are kept fully intact — inside, interiors by Studio Caramba's Tomas Alía strip things back to Japanese minimalism, with neutral tones, oversized headboards, and a sculptural central staircase drawing inspiration from Torii gates.
