NH Copenhagen Grand Joanne
Modern Scandinavian with a deliberately feminine touch — muted palette, soft organic shapes, warm tones. Lifestyle-leaning rather than corporate, with locals genuinely mixing with hotel guests in the bar and restaurant.

Why It Matters
One of the few full-service hotels in Vesterbro with three distinct bars (Italian restaurant bar, a Danish bodega called Pinden, and a seasonal rooftop), all open to the public. Originally opened in 1928, the building has genuine character — stucco ceilings, a grand corner facade — that the 2023 renovation preserved rather than erased.
A 19th-century corner building on Vesterbrogade that has housed a hotel since 1928. Renovated and relaunched in April 2023 under the NH Hotels flag, it now goes by Grand Joanne — named after a fictional well-traveled woman whose warmth supposedly shaped every interior detail. The result is 162 rooms across six floors with soft Scandinavian textures, an Italian restaurant with an open kitchen, a bodega serving Danish beers, and a rooftop bar open in summer with proper Copenhagen skyline views. It's 100 metres from Central Station. Really 100 metres.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Bikes available for rent at the hotel entrance — colour-coded and photographed in official hotel materials. Copenhagen is flat and extremely bike-friendly; this is the ideal way to explore.
The hotel organises regular events and happenings — the lobby is intentionally designed as a community space where non-guests are welcome to sit, work, and socialise. Visit Copenhagen specifically notes this as part of the hotel's identity.
Seasonal rooftop bar (April–October) open to guests and non-guests. Cocktails, wines, light snacks with panoramic Copenhagen skyline views. Worth going up even just for a drink.
A leafy courtyard pergola used for informal gatherings, alfresco coffee, creative workshops, and wellness events. Open to hotel guests; also available for private hire.
The dedicated yoga studio can be used for private wellness sessions in addition to solo practice. Equipment provided. Open to hotel guests.
