Nayara Springs
Understated rainforest luxury. Romantic, quiet, and genuinely immersed in nature. Not a scene—more like a private retreat that happens to have world-class food and a top-tier spa. Staff-to-guest ratio is high and service is consistently exceptional.
Ask for a villa closer to the main pools and restaurants to avoid frequent golf cart rides—the property is spread out and villas vary significantly in location.
Why It Matters
A Relais & Châteaux property that has topped Condé Nast Traveler and TripAdvisor world hotel rankings. The hot-springs-fed private plunge pool in every villa is the real thing—mineral-rich thermal water straight from Arenal Volcano. The sloth sanctuary, on-property naturalist guides, and a culinary team trained under Michelin-starred chefs all add up to something genuinely hard to replicate.
Nayara Springs is an adults-only collection of 35 private villas deep in Costa Rica's Arenal Volcano National Park. Every villa comes with its own plunge pool fed by natural mineral hot springs from the base of the volcano. The interiors lean into four-poster beds, indigenous wood and stone, dual rain showers (one inside, one out), and hammock-strung terraces where you can watch toucans and howler monkeys without going anywhere.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
Complimentary guided birdwatching walks with on-property naturalist guides, twice a week at dawn. Guests spot colored toucans, tree sloths, hummingbirds, scarlet macaws, and a wide variety of other species found in and around Arenal National Park.
An on-property guided evening walk with a naturalist to spot dozens of frog species native to Arenal—from the diminutive red-eyed tree frog to the transparent glass frog that lives in the resort's ponds. One of the property's most memorable and accessible experiences.
A rainforest trail on the resort's grounds designed around the resident sloths, who favor the Guarumo trees for their naps. On-property naturalist guides are available to help spot them. The resort has planted 300 cecropia trees as part of a dedicated sloth sanctuary.
The resort's 15 acres of landscaped gardens are planted with heliconias, bougainvillea, philodendrons, bananas, palms, and cycads. Designed to be explored at your own pace, with frequent wildlife sightings along the way.
A hands-on session at Mi Cafecito espresso bar learning about Costa Rican coffee cultivation, roasting, and preparation. The bar roasts its own beans on property.
Curated wine flight tasting sessions at the Nostalgia Wine Bar, focused on South American wines. A low-key evening experience in an intimate bar setting.
Instructor-led yoga every morning in the open-air rainforest pavilion. Classes alternate between the Nayara Springs pavilion and the Sukha Spa pavilion—check at reception for that day's location. Private classes can also be arranged for groups, couples, or individuals.
The property features hanging bridges crossing the rainforest canopy. The two pedestrian bridges connecting to sister property Nayara Gardens are suspended 150 feet above the forest floor.
Personalized private excursions with on-site naturalist guides. Options include Arenal Volcano hiking, Rio Celeste, Tenorio Volcano National Park, coffee plantation visits with organic cacao tasting, Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge river float, Sky Tram and Sky Trek zip-lining, white-water rafting, and visits to the Proyecto Asis animal rescue center and Maleko indigenous village.
