Aveiro's first five-star hotel lives inside a carefully restored 18th-century palacete in the city's historic center. The whole concept revolves around Portuguese novelist and diplomat Eça de Queiroz — his family once lived here — so every room carries the name of one of his fictional characters, the reading room stocks a curated collection from the Eça de Queiroz Foundation, and a large mural by street artist Vhils (Alexandre Farto) pays tribute to the writer on the courtyard walls. The building spans four floors of neoclassical facade with Moorish detailing, a monumental entrance staircase, and ornate stucco ceilings throughout.

The most special non-suite rooms in the building, named after Carlos da Maia and Maria Eduarda — the central characters of Eça's masterwork 'Os Maias'. Expect the most elaborate literary theming and the best room finishes in the Palacete category. Some rooms open directly onto the pool courtyard.

Part of the 10 themed rooms, each named after an Eça de Queiroz character: Gonçalo Ramires, Jacinto Tormes, Artur Corvelo, Amélia Caminha, and others. Each room has its own distinct decorative identity tied to the personality of its namesake character — think rich fabrics, botanical wallpaper, and curated artwork.

Art Deco-inspired decor that pays tribute to Aveiro's own Art Nouveau and Art Deco architectural heritage. These rooms look out over the hotel pool and Rua José Estevão. A distinct style from the literary-themed rooms — more geometric and graphic.
