Why It Matters
One of very few hotels in Spain with a 3-Michelin-star restaurant (Lasarte) operating on-site. The building itself carries heritage protection status. Martín Berasategui, who oversees all dining across the hotel's five venues, holds 9 Michelin stars total — the most of any Spanish chef.
Monument Hotel is a 5-star Grand Luxury property inside the Enric Batlló House, a heritage-protected neo-Gothic mansion built in 1895-1896 and sitting directly across from La Pedrera on Passeig de Gràcia. The building's polychromatic façade — brickwork, stone, ceramic, and wrought iron — is one of the most architecturally striking on the boulevard. Inside, the lobby runs cream and gold with marble floors and columns, and the modern interior features curving ceilings and soaring vertical beams that carry faint echoes of the Sagrada Família. The hotel's single biggest draw is Lasarte, the 3-Michelin-star restaurant by Basque chef Martín Berasategui operating right on the premises.
