Hong Kong
Art-forward lifestyle hotel. Bold, design-driven interiors. Culturally programmed with local artist residencies, monthly City Hunts guides, and a street-level pop-up gallery across the road. Feels more like a cultural venue that happens to have rooms than a traditional hotel.
Ask for a harbour-facing room — the higher the floor, the more unobstructed the view
Why It Matters
First Mondrian hotel in Greater China. The building's triangular architecture and wraparound corner windows create genuinely dramatic Victoria Harbour views from most rooms. Avoca bar has racked up multiple awards in its first year, including Best Cocktail Bar (Gold) at Hong Kong Best Bars Awards 2024. Carna by Dario Cecchini is the first Asia outpost of the legendary Tuscan butcher's restaurant.
Mondrian Hong Kong opened in December 2023 inside a 40-story triangular high-rise that spent decades on the skyline as the Hotel Panorama. The bones are the same — quirky corner windows, the whole triangular footprint — but everything inside has been overhauled by Vienna-based designer Karin Krautgartner, who layered cinematic glamour with Hong Kong-specific references: neon-tube lighting that nods to the city's fading neon heritage, a glass mosaic in the lobby inspired by underwater photography, and locally commissioned art throughout. No pool, but the dining and bar program alone draws a crowd from across the city.
