Molitor
Art Deco heritage meets Parisian street art. Athletic, wellness-forward, and design-conscious rather than classically luxe. The pools are the soul of the place.
Ask for a room with the signature porthole window overlooking the outdoor pool — it's a uniquely Molitor experience you won't find elsewhere in Paris
Why It Matters
A genuine Paris landmark reborn. The indoor and outdoor pools are original 1929 Art Deco structures. Over 100 street art installations by pioneers like Hopare, Bradley Theodore, and Mademoiselle Maurice cover the cabins and corridors. Europe's largest hotel spa, operated by Clarins, occupies 1,600m² on site.
Piscine Molitor has one of Paris's most compelling origin stories. The Art Deco pool complex opened in 1929, Johnny Weissmuller reportedly trained here before his Olympic gold medals, and street artists colonised the abandoned building through the 1990s after it closed in 1989. Today it's a five-star hotel with 124 rooms, all looking out over those same historic pools. The 16th arrondissement location is genuinely far from central Paris — Notre-Dame is not walkable — but for Roland Garros or Parc des Princes visitors, this sits directly on the doorstep.
