Miramonti Boutique Hotel
Alpine-modern boutique. Rich in local materials — stone, warm wood, natural textiles — but leaning design-forward rather than rustic-cozy. Think Nordic clarity crossed with South Tyrolean craft tradition. Owners Carmen and Klaus bring real personality: she handles the décor and details, he handles marketing, photography, and wines personally.
Book the Panorama Restaurant separately — it's only 26 seats and fills up fast, especially on weekends. Non-guests are welcome.
Why It Matters
One of the few Alpine properties to genuinely combine slow-food dining (Michelin-listed Panorama Restaurant), a heated saltwater infinity pool hovering above the Merano valley, and six distinct room design themes — all under the same family ownership since 1932. ELLE Germany called it 'hard to find, hard to forget.' The 16m × 5m outdoor infinity pool filled with 32°C saltwater is the headline draw.
Family-run boutique hotel perched at 1,230m on the Tschöggelberg plateau above Merano, South Tyrol. Open since 1932 and now run by Carmen and Klaus Alber with a team of around 60 staff, the place feels genuinely personal in a way that many 'boutique' hotels only promise. Three distinct restaurants under one roof, a floating saltwater infinity pool with valley views, and 47 rooms split across six design themes give it serious substance.

How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel's classic Alfa Romeo Giulia is available for guests to explore South Tyrol's scenic routes, mountain passes, vineyard roads, and traditional villages. One of the hotel's signature experiences — book through reception.
The hotel lends bikes and provides washing stations, assembly stands, and maps. Guided e-bike tours in the Merano 2000 area available on request. Season: March to November.
The Sulfner riding stables are just around the corner from the hotel, home to the breed of Haflinger horses that gives the village of Hafling its name. Riding excursions available with instructors year-round — including horse-drawn sleigh rides in winter.
A slow-food spread set up outdoors in an idyllic meadow spot with views over Merano. All ingredients sourced from South Tyrolean farms. Book in advance through the concierge — weather dependent.
Every Friday 1:00pm–6:00pm (minimum 4 participants). Guided tour to 2–3 selected South Tyrolean wineries with cellar tours and tastings. Lunch box included.
Every Wednesday evening at 6:30pm, owner Klaus Alber hosts a wine tasting. Short introduction to South Tyrolean wine history, then a selection of special regional bottles. Guests from different countries gather at the long table together — one of the hotel's most memorable regular events.
Guided forest therapy experiences in the hotel's surrounding 30-acre softwood and hardwood forest. Focuses on scent, sound, and reconnection with nature at altitude.
Resident yoga teacher Heidi from Merano offers Hatha Yoga, mindfulness meditation, and Pilates in the Activity House. Classes scheduled throughout the week.
20% discount on green fees at Golfclub Passeier, approximately 25 minutes' drive from the hotel. Included in the standard MIRAMONTI Rate.
Year-round tennis lessons available at the Schenna courts, about 10 minutes' drive toward Merano. Host Klaus's own tennis instructor Max Palumbo runs the school. Tennis rackets available to rent. Reception handles booking.
Helicopter flights bookable directly from the hotel year-round: panoramic flights over the Dolomites, excursions to remote mountain huts, a trip to Venice, or transfers to/from airport.
Every Sunday evening, a classic James Bond film plays on screen in the hotel's Tea Room with homemade popcorn. A nod to the fact that scenes from 'The Spy Who Loved Me' (1977) were filmed in the area.
Merano 2000 ski area is 4km from the hotel — 40km of runs for all levels. The hotel runs a complimentary ski shuttle. Ski rental available on-site. Ski passes not included but reception handles bookings.
