Suites Kyoto Central
Modern apartment-style; functional, clean, family-forward. Think less boutique hotel drama and more 'actually comfortable for a group of four.' Tatami accents and Japanese toy sets in the lobby add some cultural warmth without going theme-park with it.

Why It Matters
Ranked #1 of 352 hotels in Kyoto on TripAdvisor with a 5/5 rating (390+ reviews) and listed in the Michelin Guide. Every room is a full two-bedroom, 85㎡ suite — the largest in the MIMARU SUITES series — making it unusually spacious for a city-center Kyoto hotel. Three-minute walk to Karasuma Oike Station.
Opened June 2023, this 10-floor, 19-room apartment hotel sits in the heart of Kyoto's Nakagyo Ward. Every single unit is an 85㎡ two-bedroom suite — not a studio with a hot plate, but a proper apartment with a full kitchen, separate dining area, tatami room, and in-unit washer-dryer. That size and setup makes it a serious outlier in Japanese city hotel stock, where 30㎡ rooms are considered generous. No restaurant, no lobby bar, no pool. What you get instead is real living space and a multilingual staff team from 35 countries ready to point you toward the best Kyoto bowl of ramen.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Every suite is a fully equipped kitchen. Buy ingredients at FRESCO (1 minute away) or Nishiki Market (walking distance) and cook proper meals in your room. Everything is provided: pots, pans, knives, colander, all the way down to kitchen scissors and paper towels.
Guests receive a BINGO card with missions tied to Kyoto's famous landmarks. Complete challenges around the city (and some right in the hotel) and claim a small gift from the front desk. Seasonal variations keep it fresh for repeat visitors.
The lobby keeps a selection of traditional Japanese toys — kendama (cup-and-ball) and koma (spinning tops) — available to borrow free of charge. Good rainy-day distraction for kids and adults alike.
